From the 6th of December you can skate and party on the Savoy Terrace. Buda will have an amazing winter venue soon: a new ice rink opens on one of the most beautiful terraces in the city, with the best panoramic views in town. The grand opening of the brand new ice rink will take place on the 6th of December on the Savoy Terrace in Buda Castle. Skating and dancing will be a must at the free party, with top DJs spinning records throughout the evening while we skate, dance or sip our drinks while enjoying the view of the Parliament and the Chain Bridge. The Savoy Terrace is not only special because of its breathtaking panorama. The name of the terrace comes from Jenő Savoyai, the famous commander of the reconquest of Buda. His statue in front of the National Gallery was commissioned by the city of Zenta…

Indoor and outdoor venues, a nice café, a spa or a climbing gym where you’re guaranteed to have a memorable experience. In autumn, the Buda side has a special atmosphere, with the sun shining through the falling leaves and the parks change their colours from green to yellow, brown and red. During this time, whether you’re sitting in a park or on the terrace of a café, the city is beautiful. Walking through the castle or along the quayside with the Danube in the background, I often feel like a tourist myself, fascinated by our built and natural heritage and the places that I have a personal experience of each. A foreigner friend of mine – who recently chose Budapest as his temporary headquarters – asked me which places I would recommend him where he can take his girlfriend, what places to choose for a date. So here’s a list…

Géza Béres is one the the city’s well known style icons with his stylish outfits. His colourful suits are designed by him: he is the owner of a small tailor shop in Buda and the founder of the first Budapest based Hungarian men fashion day, the Budapest Uomo. The owner of Dress Me And You will close a busy year, as he has travelled half the world again in the last 12 months. This year his suits debuted in Florence, Venice, Paris and Bangkok. We spoke to Géza after his latest Italian tour. Your international career is growing, you even won a professional award in Thailand. Tell us a bit about that! In Bangkok, I received the Golden Shears, which is an international tailoring award and I was the first European who won it in Bangkok. Because of the importance of charity there due to Buddhism, they also took into…

There’s a wide range of places to sit, eat and relax in one of Buda’s coolest locations, the Kopaszi-gát, where you can even swim in the Danube in summer. The Kopaszi-gát and its surroundings have undergone a huge development in recent years. BudaPart is a new neighbourhood, a true leisure, gastronomic and business centre, which is now one of the favourite places for relaxation, leisure and events for all the locals and travellers. There are plenty of good restaurants and places to sit in and sit out, with high quality gastronomy. You can eat fish dishes, try Asian cuisine or the original Neapolitan pizzas, but there are also specialty cafés and classic pastry shops where you can also taste traditional Hungarian sweets. All in all, you won’t leave hungry here, everyone will find the right cuisine for them at Kopaszi-gát. And in the summer months, you can even go swimming,…

Budapest is not only a spa town, but also a city for hiking, as you don’t even have to leave its borders for a good hike. For those who love leisure activities, the Hungarian capital is a true paradise: there is hardly any sport that you can’t do here. The hills surround the Buda side, and public transport is well organised, so you can quickly reach all points of the Buda Hills. One of the most popular of the many sites is still Normafa, where many of the locals gather on weekends to clear their heads and lungs while taking a long walk in the woods. Normafa is a convenient 19-minute bus ride from Széll Kálmán Square, where you can also try the gyermekvasút and the funicular. It is also easy to get here from the city centre, with bus 210 from North Pest to Svábhegy on weekdays and a…

Hot chocolate is one of the simple pleasures that turns the cold weather more enjoyable. We found a hidden gem on the Buda side, a little cafe with wide selection of hot chocolate where you can also try the popular pumpkin spice latte and many other specialties. The leaves are already falling, turning brilliant shades of red and gold, and the air is getting cooler in the early hours, so we’ll be taking our morning coffee indoors rather than out on the café terrace. There is one wonderful drink that also signals the arrival of autumn and winter, and that is hot chocolate. Whether sipping it from a paper cup after an outdoor adventure or sitting in an elegant café, it’s all about creamy, rich flavour, the kind of hot chocolate we imagine based on Willy Wonka movies. The history of hot chocolate goes back to ancient Central American civilisations:…
